The Core Reason Singapore Kitchens Struggle to Eliminate Cooking Odours
A critical detail most residents discover too late.
Most local residences, including HDB BTO and resale units, rely on recirculating hoods. While these trap some grease, they fail to extract smoke from your living space entirely. Consequently, cooking fumes are:
-
Directed back into your kitchen
-
Circulated throughout the living areas
Recirculating Hood
-
Traps grease only
-
Recycles air indoors
-
Odours persist
-
Poor Air quality
Ducted Exhaust System
-
Extracts fume outside
-
Superior air quality
-
Removes odours
-
Enhanced ventilation
Without an external exhaust duct, smoke and fume have no way to exit your home.
How Our Kitchen Ducting System Works
- Your hood captures smoke, grease, and heavy cooking fumes at the source.
- Secondary filter minimizes grease buildup before air enters the system.
- The connector moves airflow from hood to duct.
- Rigid, durable ducting is neatly concealed within your cabinets or ceiling.
- Cooking Fume is vented outdoors, ensuring no odours remain in your home.
Every installation is customised to suit your specific requirement.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the BRU Room Group Buy Campaign.
Is kitchen hood ducting allowed in HDB?
In most cases, yes — when the works are fully internal, non-structural, and do not affect common property.
HDB guidelines focus on how the work is carried out, not simply the word “ducting.” Proper planning and routing are important, which is why each unit should be assessed before installation.

How does the group buy pricing work?
The more confirmed homes in the same project, the higher the discount tier for everyone.
5 homes — 10% discount
10 homes — 15% discount
15 homes — 20% discount (up to $180 savings per unit)
What happens if the minimum number of homes is not reached?
You can still proceed at the base price.
There is no obligation to continue if you decide not to proceed.
Is there any obligation after I sign up?
No. Signing up is simply to register interest and allow us to assess your unit.
You only proceed after feasibility is confirmed and you are comfortable.
What happens if a higher discount tier is reached after I’ve already confirmed?
Our payment is structured in two stages:
-
Deposit (70%) — paid before installation to secure materials and manpower scheduling
-
Final Payment (30%) — paid before connection to your hood and external duct
If a higher discount tier is achieved after your confirmation, the additional savings will be offset against your final payment.
This ensures you will always receive the best available group buy pricing.
Will this affect my renovation timeline?
No. We coordinate our installation with your renovation schedule to avoid delays or rework.
Early planning is recommended for best results.
Do you work with my interior designer (ID)?
Yes. We coordinate directly with your appointed ID to align on routing, carpentry, and ceiling works.
This ensures the ducting integrates cleanly into your overall renovation.
How long does installation take?
Most duct installations are completed within one day, depending on complexity and routing requirements. Subsequently, we will visit second time to connect the hood and external duct.
What kind of kitchen hood is compatible?
Most standard chimney hoods can be connected to a ducting system.
We will confirm compatibility during the feasibility assessment.
What if I haven't gotten my keys yet?
You can still join! By putting down a tiny commitment fee, you secure the Group Buy rate for up to 12 months. This is recommended to hedge against future price increases.
How do I share the Group Buy with my neighbours?
you can share this page or the direct registration link to your neighbours.
