Frequently asked questions

Ducting FAQ – Bru Room Support

1. Is ducting HDB-compliant in Singapore?

Generally, yes. Our systems are internal and stay away from structural elements or common areas. HDB rules focus on preventing external facade changes. Since our work remains within your unit and doesn't affect structural integrity, it is considered a non-standard renovation. Check official guidelines at: https://www.hdb.gov.sg/cs/infoweb/residential/living-in-an-hdb-flat/renovation/important-information

2. Does this impact my home valuation?

Definitely not. Professional internal ducting systems are reversible and do not alter the flat's structure. In fact, many buyers view a grease-free, odor-controlled open kitchen as a premium feature that adds practical value to the property.

3. Can the duct be hidden away?

Yes, we prioritize aesthetics by designing compact routes meant for concealment inside alse ceiling or top cabinet shadow gap. While we plan the route for maximum concealment, the final look depends on your selected carpentry or renovation design. Even if left exposed, the system functions perfectly to keep your kitchen air clean.

4. Will my walls be damaged?

We treat every unit with care, ensuring no structural pillars or beams are touched. Our team coordinates closely with your main contractor or carpenter to ensure the installation is integrated seamlessly without causing any unnecessary damage.

5. Is my current hood compatible?

We verify your hood's motor strength and specifications first. As long as the airflow pressure is sufficient to navigate the duct length, your existing equipment can be used. We assess every model before we begin.

6. How do I prevent grease buildup?

We include a high-efficiency secondary filter at the entrance of the ducting. This setup effectively captures oil, blocks heavy grease from entering the pipe, and simplifies long-term maintenance for a fresher kitchen atmosphere.

7. Will this remove all cooking smells?

Our system provides a dedicated exit for fumes, greatly reducing lingering odors compared to standard charcoal filters. Efficiency varies based on your hood's power and kitchen layout, but the improvement in air quality is immediate and noticeable.

8. What is the installation timeline?

A typical setup takes roughly four to six hours. We do the heavy lifting regarding site assessment and path planning beforehand so that the actual installation day is quick, clean, and causes minimal disruption to your home.

9. Do you handle new BTO projects?

Certainly. We specialize in working with BTO owners to integrate ducting systems during the initial renovation phase, ensuring the cleanest possible finish alongside your new kitchen cabinets.
